Mama’s Got a Brand New Blog

Saturday, March 20, 2010

There is nothing that will really prepare you for becoming a mother. You go into the hospital or birthing center (or the inflated kiddie pool sitting in the middle of the living room … hey, I live in Organic Hill, Brooklyn, folks) as yourself, only pregnant, and leave an entirely different person.

It doesn’t matter how cool and on-point you were before your kid comes into the world, you will definitely feel overwhelmed at some point. The hazy, sleep-starved, sore, weepy, thirsty, giddy, sweaty, swollen stage can last a good while. But know that it will (yes, will) pass, and you will come out on top.

This blog is here to highlight the moms of these bustling cities who have negotiated this challenging/breathtaking/remarkable path to Parenthood with panache.

There will be new posts Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (and maybe some days in between when there is something crazy, super important and pressing to say, like … I finally confronted that lanky, lame dog-walker chick who’s been letting—no, encouraging—one of the dogs in her pack to poop on our pseudo front lawn).

Mondays: Stories, musings, news, information, updates, rants, and other ideas that come to my mind. Topics of these posts can range from motherhood and media to publishing and photography.

Wednesdays: At Ms. Mary Mack, we say it’s Whoa, Mama!” Wednesdays. We feature a fabulous first-time mama sharing how she is dealing with Mommyhood and all the changes, challenges and incredible cloud nine moments that come with the gig.

Fridays: It’s a funny video clip. It’s an inspired photograph. It’s a mom stylin’ & profilin’ on these fast city streets. Basically, it’s what Fridays should be—fascinating and fun.

We’ll also feature something called “And So It Was Blogged” on Fridays. It’s a Best of the Blogs. A wrap-up of what I thought were prime bloggy cuts from the week.

So that’s the deal. Thanks for clicking over to Ms. Mary Mack. Hope we see you again real soon!
