Oh, To Be Young and Easily Amused

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Our son’s first hurricane was uneventful. A good thing, most certainly. Even better, the next day, The Youngster had another introduction: his first amusement park. Watching him take in all the colors and literal bells and whistles of the moment was its own delightful happening.

The fun of it all was quite contagious, too. In fact, his mama even found herself, for the first time in over 15 years, riding a roller coaster called Zoomerag — complete with a 125-foot drop — and playing Whac A Mole to win my little toddler a plush, purple prize.

Tomorrow, he starts preschool. This means tonight will be all about ironing on labels on clothes, packing extra outfits (including a few changes of big-boy underwear!) and trying not to tear up at the equally sobering and amusing fact: my magnificent little guy is growing up.

Did you win him that purple bear? Gorilla? Which is it? Either way, it’s very cute. It looks like a fun time – where did you go?

I did indeed win him that purple gorilla (thought it was a bear at first, too… until I saw the banana). Very fun. Very cute. We went to this park here called Lake Compunce. Good day. :)
