Ah, Fresh September … Like Perfect Toast

Ah, September … welcome in, friend.

I’ve often said here how I feel about the month of September and autumn. The season represents newness, fresh ideas, square ones. My husband’s birthday is in September. We got married in September (six years ago!). School — with all the new lessons, supplies, outfits, and outlooks — starts in September.

It’s like just-washed sheets on the bed. Like cracking open a blank notebook. Like a cup of warm cider. Or, if you spoke to my son, like a piece of perfectly toasted bread.

I do kind of miss back-to-school shopping, though. With The Youngster in preschool, there isn’t really a list of things to gather for the first day. I know, I know. Soon (too soon) I’ll ┬ábe filling up my cart with pencils and backpacks and erasers and binders, but this week, I miss it. Hell, I might just go to Target tomorrow and buy more pens — yet again.

Oh! Speaking of supplies-shopping, definitely check out One Hungry Mama‘s annual Back-to-School Lunch Gear Guide. The woman’s done all the work for you. All you have to do now is pick and click to buy your kid some cute/cool lunch gear. As always, nice job, OHM!

We’re heading off to a quick family road trip for the long weekend. Be sure to check back with MMM next week (in September, yaaay!) for some new bits and more conversations about bringing compassion and common sense back to parenthood.

Happy Labor Day, y’all!

Also my favourite month/season – we got married five years ago also in September and baby girl was born in autumn (October) of 2010.

Have a good weekend, September friend :)
